Ice and fake ice

There are differences and similarities btw fake and real ice. There are overall three ways of makeing fake ice (that I can think of).

1. Making fake ice with resin: http://www.taxidermy.com/cat/18/artwater.html. This one work outfine except for its smell (very smelly)...

Steps to make resin fake ice:
  1. Create a mold for the fake ice by using modeling clay. In other word, print ice onto clay.
  2. Mix resin with its hardener like instructed in an instruction sheet.
  3. Pour the resin into the holes made on clay.
  4. Wait for it to dry (about 12 hrs.)
  5. Take the harden resin out.
  6. Use oil to rub out the clay that is stuck.
  7. Done le...
2. Making fake ice with Gel wax (เทียนเจล). The gel wax itself already look like ice although it is only half solid. As I pierce into the gel, texture is created. This one works nicely although there is a problem that it dehydrate.

3. Makind fake ice with beads: For this one I fail to make the final product like in a tutorial. The beads still remain as round shape. This is due the temperature of my oven that cannot reach what it should to melt. I think that if I am able to use a better oven then bead would work just fine.

Here are the two sites that tutor how to make fake ice with beads:
